Title: Love, Lucy
Author: April Lindner
Publication Date: January 27, 2015
While backpacking through Florence, Italy, during the summer before she heads off to college, Lucy Sommersworth finds herself falling in love with the culture, the architecture, the food…and Jesse Palladino, a handsome street musician. After a whirlwind romance, Lucy returns home, determined to move on from her “vacation flirtation.” But just because summer is over doesn’t mean Lucy and Jesse are over, too.
In this coming-of-age romance, April Lindner perfectly captures the highs and lows of a summer love that might just be meant to last beyond the season.
I received a copy of this book for free from the author via NetGalley in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.
Lucy and her friend, Charlene, are backpacking across Europe when Lucy meets Jesse. Lucy falls for Jesse hard and fast. Much too soon, Lucy and Charlene are heading back to the States and Jesse is still in Europe. The rest of the story follows Lucy through her first semester of college and her decision between the two boys she cares about the most.
Love, Lucy was such a fun novel! I loved the traveling and it made me want to buy a plane ticket and go wander across Europe! The writing throughout this entire novel was fantastic! The description of the places that Lucy traveled was wonderful! The novel was pace perfectly, not too fast and not too slow. I was throughly engrossed throughout the entire novel without feeling rushed.
There were a few moments when I didn’t always agree with the decisions that Lucy made, but overall, I really enjoyed her character. I loved that she could act and sing (something I wish I could do, so I’m a little jealous). I was also really happy that she learned how to stand up for herself and follow her dreams! I truly appreciated how Jesse always pushed her to do what she loved and nothing less.
This contemporary was an adorable read and I’m so happy I enjoyed it as much as I did! The ending was perfect and had me wishing that there was more to read! I will definitely check out the rest of Lindner’s work.
