Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because they are particularly fond of lists at The Broke and the Bookish, and I decided to share my list with all of you also!
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is…Top Ten Books I Will {Probably} Never Read. Shall we?
1. Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James. I know practically everyone has read these books, but it’s just not going to happen for me. Sorry, not sorry.
2. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. I know, I know. How could I possibly not read Harry Potter. Something must be wrong with me, right?! It’s just that I have seen enough of the movies and heard a crazy amount of references to these books, I feel as though I have already read them. Plus, I have way too many other books that need reading.
3. The Giver Quartet by Lois Lowry. I have read The Giver, but the ending upset me so much that I really don’t see myself finishing the rest of The Giver Quartet.
4. The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson and Reg Keeland. I tried to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but I couldn’t do it. People told me to push through because it got better, but nope. This series just isn’t happening for me.
5. The Return of the King (Lord of the Rings #3) by J.R.R. Tolkien. I loved, loved, loved The Hobbit. I really enjoyed The Fellowship of the Ring, but I got stuck on The Two Towers. I never finished the second installment and I don’t see myself reading the third.
6. The Crank Trilogy by Ellen Hopkins. This series has rave reviews and I know many people who have read and enjoyed this series. I think that maybe I would even enjoy it, but with so many other books to read, I would just put this one on the backburner and it would never be read.
7. The Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy by Laini Taylor. I recently read The Girl at Midnight and I have had many people tell me that there are too many similarities to The Daughter of Smoke and Bone. With The Girl at Midnight being only “meh” for me, I don’t see myself reading this series if it is similar.
8. Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard. I never could get into the TV show and I never felt compelled to pick up the books. Besides there is more than fifteen installments in this series, which is ridiculous.
9. The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie. I started this series, but I got so BORED midway. I have absolutely no desire to finish this series.
10. Allegiant by Veronica Roth. I loved Divergent and Insurgent. By the time Allegiant came out, I had already forgotten where Insurgent left off. As much as I want to finish this series, I just don’t see myself rereading the first two installments.

One Night Book Stand 
Don’t worry about Harry Potter – I had The Hunger Games on my list, and I know loads of people think I’m crazy! In Potters defense, I will say that the movies don’t tell the whole story and leave it at that. 🙂 Fifty Shades made my list too. I have read LoTR, simply because when the first movie (Fellowship) came out, it ended on a cliff hanger and I wanted to see what happened. Really didn’t like the books, the movies are way better.

Luckily by the time I watch LoTR, all the movies were out and I just watched on right after the other! I know that the books are always better than the movie, I just couldn’t see myself reading the last installment when I already knew the ending.

It’s interesting you got bogged down in The Two Towers. I always found that I get through that one the fastest when I re-read the LOTR.

It’s possible I could have been in a reading slump at the time (so long ago, I can’t remember for sure), but I just can’t see myself picking it up again! Too many other books to read!

I’m going to brave it through a few books on your list, just to see what the hype is! Harry Potter is stupid if I really really think about it. I quit reading the last book; by the time I got to it I had lost interest in the whole storyline. Happy reading! 🙂

It seems like everyone else is obsessed with Potter, and I’m just over here like….uhhhh… Glad I’m not the only one! 🙂

You’re killing me with your list! Lol. I won’t ever read Allegiant either. I already know what happens, and I think the ending is ridiculous. I own it, I just won’t ever pick it up.

Hahah! I heard many people had the ending spoiled for them and that the ending was terrible! If I don’t read it, this way I can still appreciate the series!

With the exception of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, you pretty much could’ve written this list for me. Though I may read PLL, just because I bought it for 50 cents at a thrift shop and kind of feel obligated to now since it’s taking up precious real estate on my bookshelf.

Nice to see we have similar reading tastes! 🙂 I am glad to hear to enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo though, I know many people who enjoyed it, but I just couldn’t get into it!

I totally agree with the 50 Shades of Gray trilogy and The Giver series. I read The Giver in school and my teacher completely ruined it by insisting that Jonas died at the end of the book. I never thought that there were other books, because I was taught that he died, along with the baby.
On the other hand, you should read Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I can guarantee you that it is completely unique and worth reading. I have heard a lot about Girl at Midnight, even though I have not read it, they do not sound alike.

I had The Matched Trilogy and Fifty Shades of Grey on my list as well. I would never read the PLL books but I actually like the TV show. I haven’t read Allegiant yet but I want to just so I can say I’ve read the trilogy. I love Harry Potter, but ah well, to each their own.

I am reading HP right now for the first time and so far haven’t liked the first two books. I really feel like it is something you should start in your childhood. The same goes for the Giver quartet books. Much more enjoyable when you’re twelve, but any later than thirteen and they have lost their magic!
